🔍 Model Background
The Suzuki VS 700, VS 750, and VS 800 Intruder series (1987–2009) formed a key part of Suzuki’s long-running line of shaft-driven cruisers, built to deliver classic chopper styling, smooth V-twin performance, and relaxed ergonomics. These models helped establish Suzuki’s presence in the cruiser segment by blending traditional American design cues with Japanese reliability and refinement.
The series began with the VS 700 Intruder in 1987, created specifically for the U.S. market to comply with tariff restrictions on imported motorcycles over 700cc. When those restrictions were lifted, the engine was expanded to 749cc (VS 750) and eventually to 805cc (VS 800). All variants featured a liquid-cooled SOHC 45° V-twin engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and shaft drive, offering strong torque and smooth cruising.
With their teardrop tanks, low-slung seats, high handlebars, and extended forks, the Intruder series exuded a traditional chopper look. The VS 800, in particular, was known for its balance of lightweight handling and long-distance comfort, making it a favorite among new riders and custom builders alike.
Produced over two decades, the VS 700/750/800 Intruder lineup became a foundation for Suzuki’s later cruiser models, including the Boulevard series. The bikes remain popular in the used market for their proven reliability, iconic styling, and smooth V-twin feel.
