🔍 Model Background

The Suzuki SV 650 (1999–2009) was one of the most beloved middleweight motorcycles of its era, praised for its versatile V-twin engine, lightweight chassis, and approachable performance. Designed as a do-it-all machine, the SV 650 gained popularity among new riders, track-day enthusiasts, commuters, and even racers.

At the heart of the SV 650 was a 645cc liquid-cooled DOHC 90° V-twin engine that delivered a perfect mix of torque-rich midrange and smooth top-end power. The engine’s linear delivery, characterful exhaust note, and bulletproof reliability made it a standout in the middleweight class. Paired with a 6-speed transmission, it offered spirited yet manageable performance.

Two versions were available throughout its run: the naked SV 650 and the SV 650S with a sporty fairing and clip-on handlebars. Both featured a lightweight steel trellis frame, telescopic forks, and rear monoshock. Handling was nimble and confidence-inspiring, making it an excellent bike for city riding, weekend fun, or track school.

Produced from 1999 to 2009 in this generation, the SV 650 became a cult classic and is often recommended as the ideal “first big bike.” Its enduring popularity is due to its low cost, high fun factor, and nearly unmatched versatility in the sport and standard motorcycle categories.
