🔍 Model Background
The Mercury Verado 300 HP L6 outboard (2014–2020) was the final evolution of Mercury’s iconic supercharged inline-6 Verado platform, first introduced in the mid-2000s. With its compact footprint, smooth operation, and advanced technology, the 300 L6 became a popular choice for premium offshore center consoles, bay boats, and multi-engine performance rigs.
Powered by a 2.6L inline-6 engine with an integrated belt-driven supercharger, the Verado 300 delivered instant throttle response and strong midrange torque. It featured Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), SmartCraft integration, and Advanced MidSection (AMS) to minimize vibration and improve ride quality. The engine was also compatible with Joystick Piloting and Mercury’s full suite of digital helm controls.
The L6 Verado 300 was widely praised for its quiet operation, fuel efficiency, and reliability in both saltwater and freshwater environments. By 2020, it was phased out in favor of Mercury’s newer V8 4.6L platform, but many boaters still prefer the L6 Verado for its distinctive power delivery and proven track record over years of service.
