🔍 Model Background
The Mercury Verado 275 HP outboard (2004–2010) was part of the first-generation Verado lineup and marked a major innovation in outboard engineering. It was powered by a 2.6L inline-6 engine with a belt-driven supercharger, making it one of the first production marine outboards to feature supercharging for enhanced torque and throttle response across the RPM range.
Designed for offshore boats, multi-engine setups, and high-performance cruisers, the Verado 275 introduced features that became standard in later Verado models, including Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), SmartCraft digital systems, and Advanced MidSection (AMS) technology for reduced vibration and smoother handling.
Although it was eventually replaced by more refined versions like the 300 and 350 SCi, the 275 remains respected for its power, quiet operation, and durability. It paved the way for Mercury's dominance in the high-horsepower outboard market and is still in use today among boaters who value the original supercharged inline-6 Verado architecture.
