🔍 Model Background
The Mercury Verado 250 HP L6 outboard (2014–2020) was part of the final evolution of Mercury’s acclaimed 2.6L supercharged inline-6 Verado platform. Known for its smooth operation, compact design, and strong midrange torque, the L6 Verado 250 was a favorite among offshore anglers, bay boat owners, and boaters seeking quiet, refined power in a lightweight package.
Equipped with a belt-driven supercharger, Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), and Advanced MidSection (AMS), the Verado 250 delivered crisp acceleration and minimal vibration across the RPM range. It was also fully compatible with Joystick Piloting and SmartCraft technologies, making it ideal for twin or triple engine setups.
This generation maintained the proven reliability of the earlier Verado line while benefiting from updated calibrations, improved corrosion resistance, and enhanced serviceability. The 250 L6 was eventually phased out as Mercury introduced its newer V8 platform, but it remains a popular and well-supported choice for high-performance outboard applications.
