🔍 Model Background
The Mercury Verado 225 HP outboard (2004–2010) was one of the original models launched with Mercury’s revolutionary supercharged inline-6 Verado platform. Designed to deliver smooth, quiet, and responsive power, the 225 Verado helped introduce modern features that would define a new generation of high-performance outboards.
At the heart of the Verado 225 was a 2.6L inline-6 engine paired with a belt-driven supercharger, which provided strong torque across the entire RPM range. This engine was among the first to feature Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), as well as Mercury’s Advanced MidSection (AMS) for reduced vibration and noise — a significant improvement over conventional outboards of the era.
The 225 Verado was widely used on offshore fishing boats, performance pontoons, and bay boats, offering a balance of power, refinement, and cutting-edge tech. While later Verado models delivered more horsepower and efficiency, the 225 remains a dependable and well-supported engine for boaters who value the original Verado engineering approach.
