🔍 Model Background
The Mercury Verado 200 HP L6 outboard (2014–2020) was part of the final generation of Mercury’s supercharged inline-6 platform. Designed for boaters seeking refined performance in a lightweight package, the 200 L6 Verado delivered 2.6L of supercharged power with the smoothness and quietness that defined the Verado name.
This engine shared the same advanced architecture as its higher-horsepower siblings, including Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), SmartCraft compatibility, and Mercury’s Advanced MidSection (AMS) for vibration isolation. Despite its lower horsepower rating, the 200 L6 Verado maintained the same inline-6 block, offering superior balance and midrange torque compared to naturally aspirated engines in the same class.
The 200 Verado L6 was ideal for bay boats, multi-engine setups on pontoons, and coastal fishing vessels where quiet operation, throttle precision, and fuel efficiency mattered. Production ended around 2020 when Mercury shifted to its lighter, naturally aspirated V6 and V8 platforms, but the 200 L6 remains a popular and well-supported option in the used market.
