🔍 Model Background

The Mercury Verado 200 HP FourStroke outboard (2006–2009) was an early member of Mercury’s groundbreaking Verado supercharged inline-6 lineup. Released as part of the original Verado series, this engine delivered smooth and responsive power through a 2.6L inline-6 cylinder block paired with a belt-driven supercharger, allowing it to outperform many naturally aspirated competitors in its class.

As a FourStroke engine, the 200 Verado featured Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), electro-hydraulic steering, and SmartCraft digital integration, making it one of the most advanced 200 HP outboards of its time. Mercury’s Advanced MidSection (AMS) reduced vibration and improved ride comfort, especially in twin-engine applications.

This version of the 200 Verado was especially popular for bay boats, inshore fishing rigs, and smaller center consoles that needed quiet, reliable four-stroke performance with the torque of a larger engine. Though later replaced by updated L6 and eventually V6/V8 platforms, the 200 Verado FourStroke remains a durable, serviceable choice still supported by Mercury dealers today.
