🔍 Model Background
The Mercury Verado 175 HP FourStroke outboard (2006–2009) was the lowest horsepower offering in the first-generation supercharged inline-6 Verado series. Despite being the entry-level model, it used the same 2.6L inline-6 block as the 200–275 HP versions and featured the same belt-driven supercharger, delivering smooth power and excellent midrange torque for its class.
Designed for lighter offshore boats, bay boats, and premium pontoons, the 175 Verado provided a refined alternative to traditional 2-stroke engines. It came equipped with Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), SmartCraft compatibility, and electro-hydraulic steering for modern control and performance. The engine also featured Mercury’s Advanced MidSection (AMS) for reduced vibration and quieter operation, making it ideal for single or twin-engine setups where comfort and responsiveness mattered.
Though phased out in favor of newer V6 and V8 naturally aspirated FourStroke models, the 175 Verado remains respected for its engineering quality and remains supported through Mercury’s service network.
