🔍 Model Background

The Mercury Verado 135 HP FourStroke outboard (2006–2009) was the smallest and rarest member of Mercury’s first-generation supercharged Verado inline-6 lineup. Like its higher-horsepower siblings, the 135 Verado featured a 2.6L inline-6 engine with a belt-driven supercharger, Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), and SmartCraft digital integration — bringing advanced control and smooth performance to a lower horsepower tier.

Targeted at premium pontoons, bay boats, and mid-sized runabouts, the Verado 135 offered impressive low-end torque, quiet operation, and the same upscale ride quality found in the more powerful Verado models. While heavier than conventional 135 HP engines, it excelled in multi-engine applications or on boats where throttle responsiveness and low vibration were valued more than top speed.

The 135 Verado was eventually discontinued in favor of lighter, naturally aspirated inline-4 FourStroke models. However, it remains a unique and capable option in the used market, especially for boaters seeking the refinement of the Verado platform in a modest horsepower range.
